Alerts

What Alerts watches, how the Feed works, the 13 ready-made rules in five groups and the four still in testing, and how to build your own rule.

Alerts tells you when something breaks, in the Alerts Feed, in the bell at the top of the app, and by email. The Alerts section of the sidebar is always shown, whatever your plan or products, and has four pages: Feed, Rules, Contacts and Channels.

The feed

The Feed shows what needs attention on your workspace, as cards in three tabs: Open, Snoozed and Closed. A strip above the cards counts the open alerts by severity and shows how many are Being handled. Filter by severity, source, account, or Mine.

SeverityMeaning
UrgentSomething is broken or losing money now. Sent at once.
ImportantWorth acting on today. Goes in your daily digest unless you choose to be told at once.
For your informationGood to know. Goes in your digest.

On an alert you can Acknowledge it so others know someone is on it. The More menu has Snooze, Not a problem and Resolve. A snoozed alert comes back on its own if the problem is still there. An alert closes by itself when the problem clears.

Ready-made rules

The Rules page lists 13 ready-made rules in five groups. A rule is off until you turn it on. Each row shows the rule's name and when it fires, its severity, scope and contacts, when it last fired and how often it fires in a week. Click a row to change its settings, such as how long a tag must be quiet.

GroupRules
Spend and budgetRunaway spend, Spend fell away, Budget used up early
DeliveryAccount gone dark, Campaign stopped serving, Ads disapproved or limited
Connections and trackingAd account disconnected, Ad account at risk, Your tag went quiet, Conversions stopped
ProtectionInvalid clicks jumped
LiftLift: settings changed, Lift: weekly summary

Some rules need a data source. For example, Your tag went quiet needs Block and a live tag, and Ad account at risk works on Meta only for now. A rule that cannot run yet says what it needs, and the platforms it works on.

Rules in testing

Four rules are In testing: Runaway spend, Spend fell away, Budget used up early and Campaign stopped serving. Tapper is checking them on real accounts first. A rule in testing sends nothing yet, its switch cannot be turned on, and it turns on by itself when the test ends.

Build your own rule

Under Your rules, build a rule on any metric of your connected sources. The builder is one page with four parts, which you can change in any order. A sentence on the page reads the whole rule back to you.

  1. When. What to watch, and when it counts as a problem.
  2. Where. Everything, or chosen accounts, websites or campaigns.
  3. Who and how. Who is told, how urgent it is, whether you are told Now or In my daily digest, and the active hours.
  4. Preview. How often the rule would have told you over the last 30 days. A rule that would be noisy cannot be made Urgent.

Contacts and channels

Rules tell people. Set those people up in Contacts and channels.
