Alert contacts and channels

Who an alert can reach (Contacts, Groups) and how it reaches them (Channels) - in-app, email and the channels that are coming.

An alert rule says what to watch. Contacts and Channels say who is told and how.

Contacts

Contacts lists the people and groups alerts can reach. It has two tabs, Contacts and Groups.

  • A contact is a Team member of your workspace or an Outside contact, someone who is not a member. Add one with Add contact.
  • A contact's email address or phone number is confirmed with a code before alerts go to it. Use Confirm with a code on a contact that has not been confirmed.
  • A group is a set of contacts you can name in a rule, so you tell a team and not each person. Create one with New group.
  • Removing a contact or deleting a group stops them being told. Rules and groups that use them are listed if any would be left with nobody.

Channels

Channels shows how alerts reach people, grouped by state: Needs attention, Connected, Not connected and Coming soon.

ChannelWhat it does
In-appThe bell and the Alerts Feed. Always on for every member.
EmailAn email to the person's own address.
WhatsApp and SMSA message for urgent alerts, to a number that confirmed it with a code. Shown as coming soon until released.
Slack and Microsoft TeamsPost alerts to a channel. Shown as coming soon until released.

A connected channel has Send test to check an alert arrives, and Change to edit it. A channel that stopped working says Needs attention and offers Reconnect.

Your own choice of which emails to receive is in Settings, under Notifications.
