Connect LinkedIn Ads

Connect your LinkedIn Ads accounts for Tapper Lift by signing in with LinkedIn. Tapper asks LinkedIn for read permissions and changes nothing in your LinkedIn Ads accounts.

LinkedIn Ads accounts connect for Tapper Lift, so the LinkedIn Ads row shows on workspaces that have Lift.

Before you start

  • You need the Owner or Admin role in the workspace. Anyone else who clicks Sign in with LinkedIn sees: Only a workspace owner or admin can connect an account. Ask one of them to connect it for you. See Settings for what each role can do.
  • Sign in with a LinkedIn profile that has a role on the ad account in Campaign Manager. The Viewer role is enough.
  • LinkedIn test accounts cannot be connected, because LinkedIn reports no data for them.

Connect an account

1
Open the connect page

In the sidebar, open Setup, then Ad accounts, and click Add ad account. The Add an account page opens. If your workspace has more than one protected entity, first pick the one the accounts belong to with the switcher under the workspace name. While no LinkedIn Ads account is connected, the LinkedIn Ads tab of Ad accounts shows Connect LinkedIn Ads, which opens the same page. When you set up a new workspace, the Connect an ad account step has the same LinkedIn Ads row.

2
Sign in with LinkedIn

On the LinkedIn Ads row, click Sign in with LinkedIn. A sign-in window opens, or the same tab if your browser blocks pop-ups. Sign in with the LinkedIn profile that has a role on the ad accounts and allow access.

3
Pick the accounts

Tapper lists every ad account the profile has a role on, each with its ID and currency. An account that cannot be connected is grayed out and says why. Select the accounts to connect and click Finish.

4
Click Done

Once Tapper has linked the accounts, click Done. From the Add an account page, Done takes you to the LinkedIn Ads tab of Ad accounts. When you set up a new workspace, it takes you to Lift.

What connecting does

  • Tapper asks LinkedIn for two read permissions, r_ads and r_ads_reporting.
  • Connecting creates nothing in LinkedIn, on any workspace: no Insight Tag, no audience and no URL template. Tapper says so when the accounts connect: Connecting them changes nothing in your LinkedIn Ads accounts.
  • The access LinkedIn gives Tapper is stored encrypted.

Accounts in other workspaces, and disconnecting

  • An ad account that is connected in another Tapper workspace cannot be connected here. It is grayed out in the list with: This ad account is connected to another Tapper workspace. Contact Tapper support to move it.
  • An account that is connected to another protected entity of your workspace moves to this one when you connect it here.
  • Only Tapper can disconnect an ad account. Contact your Tapper team.
