Ask Tapper, the in-app assistant

Open Ask Tapper, ask about your account in your own words, follow guided setup, let it point at a page section, confirm changes and find your past chats.

Ask Tapper answers questions about your account, takes you to the page you need, guides your setup and makes a change only after you confirm it. It reads your own data through the same permissions you have, and answers from Tapper's help articles with the sources under the answer.

Open it

  • Ask Tapper in the sidebar. On a phone it is in the menu.
  • Ask Tapper, the first action in the command palette.
  • Cmd + / on a Mac, Ctrl + / on Windows, from any page.

The panel opens on the right and stays open as you move between pages. Drag its left edge to widen it. In a window narrower than 1280 pixels it opens over the page, and on a phone it fills the screen. Each page offers up to four starter questions, such as What to fix first on Lift or Is protection working? on Block.

If your workspace has the assistant switched off, the entry does not show.

What it does

  • Answers. Ask about your numbers, a goal, a finding or a setting. A turn shows its steps as it works, with Used N steps once done, and up to three sources under the answer.
  • Buttons. A button under an answer opens what its label says: a page of the app, or a platform's connect flow such as Connect Google Ads. A button only opens or asks; it never changes your account.
  • Pointing. Ask where something is and the page dims with a ring and a note on the place. Got it, a click or Esc ends it. For example, Add destination points at the button on Relay > Sends.
  • Changes after you confirm. Before a change the assistant shows one card, Review before I make this change, with the change itself. Nothing happens until you confirm. Requesting a Vantage goal is one such change.

The assistant never switches blocking on or off.

Guided setup

When you create a workspace, the first screen offers Set up with Tapper assistant beside Set up step by step. You can change your mind at any time, and your progress is the workspace's own, so either way shows the same step.

A guided setup is a list of steps. Each step has buttons, checks what is already done and asks before it changes anything. Skip this step moves on. If a step sends you to Google to sign in, the panel reopens on the same chat when you return and carries on from there.

Past chats

Chats are saved. Past chats, the clock in the panel header, lists them grouped as Today, Yesterday and Earlier, on any device. Open one to carry on, rate an answer with the thumbs, or delete a chat. A deleted chat leaves your history at once. Chats are kept for 90 days.

The panel shows how many questions are left today when the number is low, and No questions left today when it is used up.

Who can read a chat

You read your own chats. Settings > Assistant, for owners and admins, lists the workspace's chats: when, who, the question and its rating, searchable and paged. A row opens the chat read only. Other roles do not see Assistant in Settings. Tapper support can read a chat to help you.

In the partner app

The partner app has the same panel under the partner's own name, with its own starter questions.
